Re: Engine swap infos

Yes it's probably .040" over (not .40" over... that would be ... MASSIVE)

You need good heads, good exhaust, good cam, good tuning. Then you need good gears, good hookup, good converter, to use it.

Never heard of "vortex" heads. Sounds kinda .... chinesium, like somebody trying to get as close as they can to the real thing without getting sued for trademark infringement. Who made em? Wheredja get em? Once we figure out what that is, and maybe determine the flow specs, picking a cam will be a whole lot more like science and less like throwing darts.

Re: Engine swap infos

040 on pistons means they are 0.040" larger than stock, so yes engine has been bored out .040" (or as said 40 over which is .040"... Stock 350's bore size is 4.000", yours would now be 4.040")

Vortex heads.... Do you mean Vortec? Like the 062 or 906 casting heads used on 1996-2001 L31 350 engines in the full size chevy/gmc trucks/SUV/vans?

If so they are good heads, real good heads.

Can you take a pic of your pistons and post... Are they dish, flat top, or dome? 2 or 4 valve relief? This will effect compression ratio

As it stands though for a good 300+ HP budget built I recommend.
