305 vortec heads on a 350
i have a motor with the 305 vortec heads on a 4 bolt main 350 carb setup and for some reason there are roller rockers and 3 regular rockers so i need to buy a new set and i dont know what i need to buy and also i read that with those heads it will be to much compression to run pump gas? is this true cuz i want this to be something i can run pump gas in???

what are the head casting numbers?
people have been running 305 heads on 350's since they came out in the 70's and doing just fine on pump gas.

Those vortec 305 heads aren't true vortec heads like the 906 and 062. They use the same intake, but inside they're not much better than a standard ole 305 head. I'm sure they flow somewhat better, but they dnt have the kidney shaped chamber like the 906 and 062. I may be wrong here, but I believe they're 58CC. The roller rockers you buy will need to be self aligning unless you have guide plates. If you use regular rockers and the engine has a roller cam you'll need those to be self aligning too unless you have guide plates.

The comp ratio is gonna depend on what pistons are in it, if they are factory pistons you can run pump gas as long as your not too aggressive w the timing, any pistons w a higher comp ratio than factory you probably won't be able to. The rocker ratio is 1.5 factory, you can run 1.6 as long as your not over .475 lift so that's all gonna depend on what cam you have. The head gasket needs to be for a 350.
