help with serpintine setup
Back in may I bought a 92 rs..had a tired 1986 Sbc in it so I swapped it out with a rebuilt 1978 L82. I have been having issues with the serpentine belt setup, mainly because I have no tensionor (and no place to mount one on my "v" routed belt setup) which is causing the belt to slip when I have my fan and heat going on at once and also at wot. I would like to get the brackets found on most 350 chevy engines for my alternator and power steering. I have a ccw Waterpump which would cause an issue if those are both to be on the right. Would those brackets be compatable with the L82? I've noticed that the heads have less accessory bolt holes than the later 350s do. Or is there a better choice of brackets for my engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: help with serpintine setup
You would really be best off by installing the same setup that was on it from the factory, the 88-92 serpentine setup. If your heads dont have the holes that line up, bolt the bracket up with the bolts that will go, then start a drill bit with a pilot bushing in the holes of the bracket that dont have corresponding holes in the head to center things up, then after you drill the holes tap them, or helicoil them and install the setup.

Re: help with serpintine setup
I pulled an alternator bracket off of an 91 astro van complete with tensionor pulley. Had It sandblasted and painted. Since my 882 pass head only has 1 mount hole, I made a bracket to mount to the Waterpump mounting bolt. Has been working great so far! Alternator power issues have vanished. Also installed some dual fans while I had time to kill..

Re: help with serpintine setup
There are so many bolts holding the bracket on, we arent talking the difference between being able to get the bracket bolted up or not, and a few threads into iron, on something that has other bolts in the area isnt going to be an issue.
