lq4 fuel pump module
does anyone know if the fuel pump module from a late (99-2002) silverado will physically fit into a 3rd gen tank ?
The reason I ask is that I got the fuel pump assembly from the doner truck when I bought the motor . I got lazy and put an inline pump in, but, it makes an incredible amount of noise. So I was thinking about putting the module in the tank and rewiring ... is this possible?

that kit is ment for intsalling a 4th gen f body fuel sender into a c3 vette tank. it wont work with the sending unit from the truck either. and probably wont work right with the 3rd gen tank either. you need a 3rd gen f body fuel sending unit.

Re: lq4 fuel pump module
From this photo there looks to be 6 inches diameter around the sending unit
.. like i said , we will see .. parts are already ordered

From this article and my mesurments , this *should* work .. the bottom of the sending unit where it seals onto the tank is just shy of 4" diameter so it should work.

Re: lq4 fuel pump module
So here is the top of the pump module .. looks almost exactly like the f-body unit
and here is the side view ..
I think if I shorten the springs, the rods, and the fuel hose to the top , this will work ..

Re: lq4 fuel pump module
So I've installed the kit and reworked the pump and it looks like it will work just fine .. I should have it all together later today ...

It's in , But I still have to run new fuel lines and make up some new exhaust before I fire her up.
I am running a Corvette style fuel filter to regulate the pressure.

Re: lq4 fuel pump module
So here is the scoop .. the Silverado pump works PERFECTLY in this tank if you cut the springs / bars that support the sump .. however be very careful when putting the tank back in that you don't snap off the fuel line connectors, costing you another fuel pump module...
That being said .. The late model f-body pump also works , but again you have to cut the support bars and I had to modify the seal slightly to clear my custom fuel level sender ..
This setup works great .. I have 80-85 lbs fuel pressure at the rail and the pump is as quiet as a church mouse .. mission accomplished.
