Stay away from blueprint engines click to read about my story!
To start off sorry in advance for typo errors im making this post from my phone I don't have a computer atm. Ok to start off all I've owned are old muscle cars my first being a 1977 camaro a.k.a bumblebee after restoring that I sold it and started my second project a 1986 camaro keep in mind im only 17 with a part time job and just graduating high school. I came accross blueprint engines and I found a 383 budget stomper for 4,000$. I than had my shop rocks rods a great shop btw that works on 50k+ drag cars. They pulled the 305 tpi and I purchased the 383 after a week of the motor in the car we ran into problems we were shocked to find metal shavings in the oil pan and oil filter...this only means trouble in the mechanics world. Also a noise coming from the motor. I immideatly called blueprint and told them of the situation I sent photos as well they instructed me to have the shop pull the motor and send it to them. I than got a phone call from blueprint saying the motor is 100% perfect and metal shavings are normal....sounds fishy to me. Than they said it would cost me 1300$ to rebuild it and I said no because I knew there was somthing wrong with the motor and wed get to the bottom of it. So now I told them to send the motor back and they said it would come lightly assembled but new gaskets are only put on if you opt in the 1300 rebuild. The motor shows up to the shop with a half crate andplastic which leaves me with a dented valve cover. So at this point I've lost my warranty, have a motor I know there's problems with that there denying, and cost are just piling up. We inspected the motor and found the intake manifold gasket was never broken!!!! Meaning they couldn't of take the motor apart because to get to the heads andinternals of the motor you have to remove the intake which they obviously didn't. After 2 he's of teardowny mechanic called me and said we have bad cam bearings, anmain bearings we haven't even torn most of it down yet! I called blueprint and spoke to the supervised ken( has no regards for customers and completely disrespectfull through the whole conversation. He smirked throdugh the whole thing ) I than call blueprint anspoke to ken andtold him about the bearings so far he smirked and said I offered to sell you new ones and I responded why wouldi replace any parts of a motorbyou state is perfectly fine? He than said since you opted out of the rebuild the guys who put it together probobly just threw the parts in. So let's recap real quick I bought a motor through this company for a warranty and it was a good deal I now have no warranty and now its a money pit. Im going to have to pay for an r and r twice and have to burden the cost of a teardown of a motor than a rebuild than paying for the parts I need to replace the old bearings and other parts. Blueprint is a lying cheating scamming company ani encourage no one to purchase any product from them for a motor swap and if you do cross your fingers and hope you don't need to count on the warranty cause you'll just get screwed. Please don't disregard what im tellling you all of this is 100% true and photos are coming as well. Please comment if you've had a badexperience as well with this company.

Next, may we assume that you used a credit card of your parents? The reason for that is that you can return it and dispute the charges.
There are steps to be taken and I suggest that you enlist the help of mom and dad. There is no room for emotion during this and you need to put them on a shelf for now. Disrespect is irrelevant. It comes down to facts and you need to gather all of the facts and what they are. Having your feelings hurt doesn't matter, you need to return the item and get all of the funds spent on the credit card credited back and the vehicle for that is the dispute process.

Hey guys thanks for all of your responses I acctually woke up this morning with a Voicemail from sean the president of blueprint, awesome guy. He went through my claim and he gave me a proposal for him to send me out a new motor with a warranty. Thanks sean for all your help in getting this whole situation resolved.

Some times that is what it takes. I just hope that this new motor is better than the last. According to Sniperperforman it may be a problem but you would think that they would take better care in this case.

I was able to find your claim and see we had spoken with you last Thursday (6-9) and you were going to send us pictures of the cam and bearings. Please send those to us, I have instructed our team to get to me when we receive them. We will look at them and get back to you. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I am also planning at reviewing your entire claim, we will be in contact with you.

I think this is why I'd prefer to build my own engine, and inspect every part as its being bolted together. I'd be P*ssed if some company ripped me off like that. Ya never know though.

Re: Stay away from blueprint engines click to read about my story!
I just wanted to thank you guys for the heads up. I am shopping for a crate for the bird and was considering a blueprint 383.
Here is somebody else with one of there 383's, 1000 miles later and his block cracked.
After reading about these experiences I will be crossing them off of my list.

Re: Stay away from blueprint engines click to read about my story!
Sorry to say 2 years later, response by Brian, Ken & others has not changed. Had 2 bad sets of lifters (original & replacement they sent). After 6 months of trying to resolve and retrieve the $1200 I spent, I resorted to The Nebraska Attorney General's Office Consumer Complaint Dept. Took another 3 months to collect. Yes, there were lots of filings in the oil. How do they Dyno an engine and leave that much? Unbelievable people to deal with.

Blueprint engines are junk! I have seen stuff like this on other forums about blueprint engines. It seems to be hit or miss on weather you get a engine that's not junk. This also makes me think their horsepower ratings are bogus aswell. This is why I built my own engine and its been abused for 3 years now and still going strong (450hp).

Re: Stay away from blueprint engines click to read about my story!
Well, blueprint engines haven't gotten any better. I paid $4,000 + for a 350 Chevy in May of 2013 and have finally gotten it driveable. The first
engine I received wouldn't even start. It was dumping raw gas into the
crankcase so I popped the top off the carb and bent the floats hoping to
put more pressure on the seats and leaned it up some just to get it started. After starting I notice the belts are all over the place and the balancer looks bent. Ordered another one and the same thing happens.
Turns out the crank is bent. Anyway they did honor the warranty so all
I had to do is drain all the fluids (then found about 5 qts oil and 1 qt gas in the oilpan) pull the motor and ship it back. I wanted another motor but they said the had to fix that one, so about July I get it back and repeat the
entire process. I mentioned to them that the carb was pouring raw gas down the intake but apparently no one was listening.
After installation guess what? It won't start! Fuel filter is clear and full but let it set a few minutes and it drains right down the intake. I am
supposed to believe this thing pulled 392 hp on a dyno, 394 on the first
run with a bent crankshaft? And nobody noticed?
Finally got all their errors fixed (350 bucks for a new carb), never got that Edelbrock working, and am underneath the car and see that the oilpan almost has 2 holes in it, one on each side where the grease fittings are banging every time you turn. Car has the wrong oil pan on it.
Had to pull it again and change the pan. All is well now, just wanted to
tell my story in hopes of saving someone else what seems like a never
ending struggle.

Sean,
I am having issues with my Blueprint 331 Stroker and Ken is not being helpful. Apparently it has a cracked piston and Ken wants us to take it out and send it back. Upon receiving it he said he would decide if Blueprint will honor their warranty. This is not acceptable. I have already had to replace the cracked intake manifold it came with. Now it is leaking oil and has low compression in cylinder #1. How can we remedy this situation?

Torque is good- Nailed it! emotions wont help. Stack up the facts. Even the best engine building company has issues. However they should work with you. If they dont, then thats where your FACTS come in play. Thats a lot of money man... GL

BS like this is why I tell people to find a real engine builder in a performance shop, build your own or only order GM crate engines or one of the well known race shop crate engines if you have that kind of money and needs.

I just ordered a 306 from them.... Hopefully i dont regret that. Unfortunately I didnt see all of the bad reviews. I am putting it in my ford 250. What should I do if I run into problems like Ive seen above^^? Pretty freaked out now to be honest.

Just take your time when doing the install, replace all the things you should, like water pump, thermostat, belts and hoses. Then follow the start up/break in procedures and you'll be fine.

Let me ask this; what is your own personal experience with Blueprint Engines? Unless you purchased a product through them, you are simply not talking from experience. My own experience doing business with them was good and I'll not hesitate purchasing my next engine through them on another car build.

This is a 6-year-old thread, started by someone who registered just before posting, and hasn't been active since.
I have never ordered from or owned a Blueprint product, but the last few years the reports I've seen have been positive.
Both Summit Racing and Jegs carry Blueprint products. They aren't going to risk their reputation on a shoddy operation.
We have an aftermarket vendor forum. This doesn't belong here. Based on the above, I'm not going to move it.
Say goodnight, Gracie.
