COMP LSR lobes on BBC cam = NO
Hey guys,
Last Monday I sent an e-mail to COMP cams, asking them if it would be possible for them to grind me a custom cam for my 454, using the new LSR lobes.
I hadn't researched the details, but I remembered that both the BBC and the LSx use larger dia. cam bearing journals than the sBC, and they both use 1.7:1 rockers.
The new LSR lobes start out with a 265 degree at 0.006", 215 degree at 0.050", that gives a whopping 0.604" of valve lift. By comparison, the 3108 lobe that you can have for a BBC is also 215 degrees at 0.050", but only gives a shameful 0.566" valve lift.
Of course, I want the 0.604" lift, so I asked COMP if they're capable of creating such a cam for my big old 454.
Nearly 2 weeks later, I did get a reply. A few minutes ago. They're very sorry, but at present is isn't practical.
Well, at least now we know they haven't yet started on it, and now they know that they need to start on it.
If this interests you, do e-mail them, but no whining. Just politely express that you also wish to have LSR lobes in a BBC.
