Re: 307
i knew it would bolt up and everything. i guess what i should have asked is if it would run with a stock pcm? i didnt know because its about the same size but i have no clue about the internals. and i would be picking it up for very cheap and it supposedly only has 40000 on a rebuild. and the guy has all the paperwork and recipts from the builder.

Re: 307
guys, this OP just posted in general about tweaking his LO3.
Unless there's something wrong with the LO3, leave it in the car, and let this 307 go. It's not worth the hassle.

307 is a boat anchor. Inexpensive or free isn't a good deal when what you're getting isn't even worth scrap metal value.

What really made the 307 boat anchors were the heads, cam, and 2 bbl carb. It actually has a more favorable bore/stroke than the 305.
BUT...
As stated above, unless there is something mortally wrong with your LO3, and the 307 is ready to run as-is, it really wouldn't be worth it. The 307 has 2-piece rear main seal (vs. 1-piece for the LO3), dipstick on the driver side (vs. passenger side for the LO3), flat tappet lifters (vs. roller for the LO3), and the LO3 heads, as lame as they are, would be better than any factory 307 head (and using them would aid mounting the TBI intake manifold).
If you think you'll have more power just by installing the 307 in place of the 305, ain't gonna happen.

Re: 307
What he said. All true. But...
In the spirit of fairness, here's a link to the only 307 build ever done, so far as I can tell:
http://www.superchevy.com/technical/...ive/index.html
They spent over $2000 just to end up with 315 HP.
