What else do I need to consider

I am about to drop a 383 stroker out of a 72 chevy c10 into my firebird (currently 305 TBI). I have taken into account that my T5 transmission will need to be replaced and I might need to beef up the rear end. Is there anything else that I am overlooking?

the problem is I haven't considered much. I found a guy who is getting rid of a complete 350 bored .60 over in running condition for $200. It also has a Dual Energy Competition Cam, ported heads (stock I assume), and an edlebrock performer intake. I'm getting sick of the measly 305, and it's really hard to pass up a $200 motor. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Just keep it a 350 and you'll be amazed at the difference if you do the exhaust as well. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well my 305 runs with what I've done, so a 350 should do even better.

With the 350, you won't have to worry about the externally balanced things, although you will still need a different flexplate since yours is one-piece and a '72 is two-piece rear main seal. TBI mods will be much easier to handle on a 350 - Check for advice with the guys on the TBI forum on that.

Do you have to deal with emissions? If so, TBI is probably the way to stay unless you really go nuts and convert to TPI.

Humm, you did say the engine came out of a truck originally, didn't you. If so, even ported stock truck heads are no friend to performance.

Some Sportsman II's would wake it up, though.

Thanks for all the help. I do know that I will eventually need better heads, but for now the others will have to do. Money is the main reason for that. If only I was loaded.... It would be nice. Thank you very much again for all your help.
