Transmission: 700R4
I have to take exception to that last comment, I've driven my 305 for 315,000 miles with very little trouble and its still a daily driver to this day. There are more powerful mills, but with normal maintience there is nothing wrong with their reliability!

Do it. The same mods to a 305 will yield more gains if done on a 350. I love the power of my new 350. But my old 305 seemed bulletproof considering what I put it through.. I sold it for $350 with almost 200,000 miles on it. The guy who bought it has it in a truck, and says that's the smoothest running motor he's ever had.And I've rapped it up past 6500rpms many times. Back to the subject,do a 383 if you want a little more torque.Even just a 350 would be a helluva difference from the 305.

RSpeed Small world I am from Round Rock and now live in Cedar Park, where are all the car shows at these days? I know they have moved around from time to time but what is the deal?

Sorry back to the question if you can afford a 350 or 383 you won't miss your 305 I promise.

How much do they usually run, price wise?

I also heard that a bone stock 350 could beat a 305 with everything done to it, like headers, exhaust, intake, roller rockers, heads, camshafts, cranks, etc.
