Sell It or Use It
I have a Buick 455 I'm thinking about putting in my 1988 Camaro. I wanted to take a poll and see what yall think: Should I sell the 455 and buy a 350 and build it or should I keep the 455 and put it in the Camaro. It's apart right now, but assuming it's together, how much could I get for it? I will do a follow up on this after I get results. Thanks.

i say built it absolutly, why would you want to downgrade over 100 cubes? the 455 buick is an absolutle powerhouse with only just minor bolt ones, you would have to do ALOT to a 350 to get it even close to the buicks power

I'd say get rid of it... sure it's a good motor, but it doesn't fit the car without a whole bunch of work (totally new exhaust, accessory issues, transmission, etc.). The cost of the "core" is only a small fraction of the cost and trouble of an engine swap like this; if you have to ask, you're not ready to tackle it, and you'll run into more problems than you can even imagine would exist if you don't have some experience doing that sort of thing.
A space shuttle has a good motor too, but I don't think I'd adapt one of those in my car either.
IMHO the best thing to do if you want a V8 Camaro would also be to unload the 6-cylinder car and buy a V8 one. The difference between the value of the 2 cars is far less than the cost of an engine swap.

So where does the "427" in 427camaro come from? Sell the 455 and go with a BBC. It's the easiest BB swap.
