thrown rod
i have a 91 z i just threw a rod in it can someone advise me what and(prices)comes next in a bottom re-build i also figured since the motor is gonna be out to put on headders has anyone experienced this simmilar friggin problem?oh yeh money is also verry tight--need help

Car: 87 IROC L98
Engine: 588 Alcohol BBC
Transmission: Powerglide
Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
Depends on how much damage has been done. I totally destroyed a 383 last fall when I threw a rod.
If the block survived and you don't need a new one you'll probably need at least
new crank or the old one machined
new con rod
probably at least one new piston
bent valves from hitting the piston
Maybe bent push rods
hole in oil pan?
camshaft and lifters ok?
That's not including all the extras like gaskets, rod bolts etc.
Don't ask for a quote on repairs without knowing how much damage has been done first. Once you do a tear down to see how much damage is done, it can be cheaper to just install a reman engine.
