HT 383 in a 84 z28
Do you think this would be a good engine to swap into my 84 Z28 w/ the lg4, and would I be able to use my stock computer and ignition system without a chip for it to run? The engine was built for trucks by GM. http://www.paceparts.com/ht383_crate_engine.htm

Vortec heads = different intake manifold and no exhaust cross-over passage for the EGR. Notice the last sentence of the description: "The HT 383 should only be used in 1973 and earlier pre-emissions street vehicles or any year off road vehicles."
You could probably make it work with a Vortec EGR manifold, but you'll have to run a tube from the exhaust manifold/header up to the intake.
Check the magazine articles for the pieces by Steve Green. He built an emissions-passing 383 with Jet handling the carb & chip.
