84 engine swap to Chevy 355
If anyone could help me id appreciate it. I have a stock 84 Z28 305 H.O with a quadrajet. I recently just baught a 355 forged bottom end, edelbrock aluminum heads, air gap intake, roller rockers, comp cam etc. It has a moroso 7 quart pan on it, I was just wondering if anyone knows if it would fit in the car. I would also like to know if my stock hei distributor would work for now until I upgrade to a msd. Any help would be appreciated.

Without the Moroso part number of the oil pan, noone can say for sure if it'll go. You can test fit the Moroso pan, but it may not work with any of the common Y-pipes. It may also require an aftermarket mini starter. If the 350 block is the same vintage as the 305, you can just put the 305 pan on the 350 block. If it's an older 350, any older Camaro oil pan will work in our cars. The HEI should serve adequately.

Just a Thought....And please correct me if Im wrong but.....Im not sure that his stock HEI will work because it gets its advance from the 84 Q-Jet 4M4E CCC that is on his stock motor.....If you replace the carb youll need to switch to a vaccuum or mechanical advance Dist. Thats the only reason I havent replaced the 4M4E thats on my 84 TA yet - I need a new Dist.......Anyone? Conflict or concur?

As five7kid is always asking, why get rid of the computer asects, when they do so much for driveability? the QJ will flow enough air, you'll need rods, a hangar, and a chip, but there's no good reason to go non-computer.

Me personally......My secondaries wont open.....and before I got my car some "BuBBa" Hacked at it and removed EVERY piece on smog equipment on it save the carb.....It runs EXTREMLY rich....I only get 12MPG...And I want to go EFI with this car for the T4 I have Gathering dust.....but for the time being Im sick of looking like Joe Dirt , with an acrid white cloud following my car.....
But as for the OP I just wanted to make the point that if he changes the carb he will probobly need to change the Dist as well.....
