Re: Engine Swap
Towards the upper right hand corner is the search button. Before posting please do a search. There is a sticky at the top of the page about big block swaps and my 454 swap thread is towards the bottom.

yosh13, welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Yes, there is a BBC swap sticky in the top section of this forum. It has links to a good bit of the most useful threads on this topic.
Truck 454's, especially the late 70's and 80's versions, are basically performance slugs. Besides lame cams and low compression dished pistons, "peanut port" heads kill all performance potential. But, it'll probably have more power than your 305. Not a lot, but some more.
The 6-speed swap is a bit of an issue with regard to the flywheel. You need a T56 externally balanced flywheel, not a common item (never used by the factory). The T56 should come from an LT1 car. Or, an aftermarket Tremec (many $'s).
Personally, if I was in your shoes, I'd sell the 454 and get a 350 shortblock to put under your 305 heads and TPI (with TPI upgrades), and an f-body LT1 T56 swap. That is a little more straight forward, especially if the 350 shortblock is of the one-piece rear main seal variety. And a lot more street friendly.
