Before you guys start guys start flamming on me.
Have you ever considered swapping in an inline 6 in a third gen? either be something like an atlas engine from a trailblazer or a chevy 292.

The front of the engine is too tall for the hood. Not even sure the water pump wouldn't hit the radiator.

Re: Straight 6
That's the first thing I thought when I read the headline, an inline 6 would probably require the radiator being moved forward. I was kinda hoping someone had actually done it since I really enjoy articles of uncommon engine swaps, if you have the $$$ go for it, with enough cash and ingenuity you can make nearly anything fit.

The H3 5-cyl might fit length-wise, but with overhead cam it's still pretty tall.

Bah, just push the firewall back 6 inches, and run a 4 inch cowl induction hood. Problems solved!
It would be a very interesting swap and with the I6 I would think a turbo setup would be required if your going to go through that much work, or at least an ITB setup.

If you do a search on this site, you will see that it has already been done. There are pictures of the 250 (4.1) and the 292. It looks cool and the guy drags it.
Do just a little research and you'll find it. If nothing else, just keep looking backward in the engine swap section.

Re: Straight 6
Why not, I'd drive it, I know alot of the old I-6's were known for brute torque at low rpms, no 496 BB, but I think it'd be pretty cool, kinda taking it back to the roots, they didn't always come with V6's. I just hope if you do it that you can fabricate, cause it'll probably take alot of fab work!
Good luck-
Eric

Re: Straight 6
thanks for the link, but i cant look at the pics, for some reason that forum banned me without even posting.
And to the other guys asking why, whell bassicaly it's just to see if i can, besides inlines run so smooth and the twist is i would go back to the roots but using modern stuff
