Fuel injection to carbuertator swap?
As some of you may noticed i posted a bulletin about building a carbuerated motor. well its finished now and i was wondering how hard it and what it would cost to swap my fuel injection to carb.
Reason being is something is wrong with the motor and it will not run. What idk its been bugging me for the last couple months. And ive just about had it with the computer and electronics.
So i was wondering what would i have to do to swap it out to a carb with and keep eerything like the lights and ignition working. and what it would would cost cause im a 17 year old that doesnt make alot of money.
So if it would be a completge hassle to change it over and very expensive i wont do it.

Why not just try to fix what you already have? Try searching or posting in the TPI section to find what's wrong. Swapping to carb wouldn't be that expensive, but it would be a hassle.

If its a $25 dollar sensor, it would be dumb to not diagnose it, fix it, and sell a working engine. (or keep it)
Just make a thread in the general engine tech section posting exactly what is wrong, and what you have done to try and fix it. I bet someone here has had your exact problem.

I too hope to get rid of all the electrics in my car one day. Not that i dont like fuel injection, but its just so much simpler to have a carb.
http://5finger.8m.com/tpi2carb/tpi2carb.html this is a very good rundown on the swap. Theres also another good one in tech articles. I hope it helps.

Re: Fuel injection to carbuertator swap?
Depending on the deal you find for parts, it isnt bad. I do it on all my cars. Cannot stand TBI and i have never had TPI(yet), even if i did i would carb it. A carb will make more power compared to a stock injection setup. But a intake, carb, distributor and all the gaskets plus a bit of misc plumbing for the brakes and cooling system, it can cost from 50$ on up to 1000$ or so. If you get brand newe stuff it cost allot, but like me, i judt did my 89 RS i just got since the TBI was not working like it should, it cost me 30$ for a carb, 25$ for gaskets, i had the intake laying aroud and a rebuild kit for the used carb was 25$ plus 12$ for the vac diaphragm and a used holley fuel pump for 50$ and a new regulator was 37$ with some extra fuel line and clamps, i had a extra distributor, so in all i spent about250$. Now that was shopping around for a used couple of parts.
