83 305 transplanted into a 2001 3.8
Here is a fun one, I found a 2001 Firebird that has a blown 3.8 and have a 83 5.0 with a T5 sitting around. The person selling wants only 1000 for the car it has a automatic, so was wondering how hard it would be to swap the blown 3.8 with the 5.0 for a cheap V8 2001.

Do and search and you will see that this was attempted.
Make sure you keep everything. You will need all the 4th gen motor mounts, wiring, and ECM to get it done.
With a manual flywheel and the GM Metric bellhousing you could put your V8 T5 trans behind it. The 3.8 engines from the 4th gen cars use the same transmission bolt pattern as the 2.8/3.1/3.4 60 degree engines. The 4th gen cars are using front wheel drive 3.8 engine blocks with all the rear drive gear on it.
So, what are you waiting for? Be the first to get this done and prove it with pictures.
With a T5 you ought to get killer mileage as well!!

Does your state do emissions testing? If so, I don't believe you'll be able to pass testing; most states frown upon swapping in older equipment into newer vehicles, especially ones that are OBDII (post-1996).

i dont understand why you would put an 83 305 into any car let alone a 2001 firebird, i think you should at least get yourself a 350 block to use. also i would say it would be hard to do becasue of how tucked away the motors are into the cowl of the 4th gens but im sure you can make it work, just might be a pain. as far as emissions goes i dont know how you make it work out but im sure theres something you can do
