Re: 305 TBI to 350 carb engine swap
Man, it looks GREAT. I did basically the same thing.... well sorta, I bought my 90RS with original 305TBI that had already been swapped to a carbed 350. The guy did a CRAPPY job on it so I ended up getting the engine rebuilt and I should be finished with it this weekend. Already got it in and everything. I really like how clean your engine bay looks! I plan on taking the remainder of the A/C out of mine as well (I still have the components attached to the firewall). Have you had any problems with taking the ECM out? I really would like to do that but am pretty nervous about what has to stay and what can go. I hate the look of all those wires in my bay though! Looks great though!!

Re: 305 TBI to 350 carb engine swap
I right it has been awhile but i just wanted to up date this alittle.
So i got the motor down and running i put in the 2 speed powerglide
and i went with a 4th gen rear with 3.42 gears. I wnet with corvette replica wheels very happy with them. just a few more things left with BMR then off for paint. I thinking of going with a flat black with gloss black racing strips. but not sure may also go gunmetal. well see. i have to put a cowl on with the crab, spacer and intake hood would not close, go the 4 in cowl for free so not complaining.

Re: 305 TBI to 350 carb engine swap
This looks so similar to my build. Mine was swapped from a 2.7 TBI to a 5.7 carburated in an 88 Firebird. Would you be able to tell me how you hooked up the speedometer and tachometer? That's like the last piece to my puzzle.

Re: 305 TBI to 350 carb engine swap
I am putting a zz4 in my 85 Iroc replacing my 305 TPI. I am trying to decide to go carb or use the old TPI system. I believe it would bolt on from what I have read. TPI systems after 1987 would need some tweaks. I am going to install headers and remove the cat since emissions isn’t an issue in Michigan. I would like to maximize as much of the HP I can yet like responsiveness of the current TPI. The new Holley carb was going to run me about $500 and guessing should be a push adding my old TPI. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Should really start a new thread. The tpi is restrictive better off with a aftermarket base and runners.
or hsr, miniram. The 85 870 ecm can be tuned but somewhat difficult to work with.
better off going dynamic efi ebl or 86-89 165 tpi maf ecm resin and add relays or use a 86-87 harness.
