Do you think there is enough space for an I6 in a Third Gen?
I was wondering if there was enough room in the engine bay for an inline 6...i was thinking a Vortec 4200 the atlas engine... if nyone would know, would this engine bolt up to a manual trans like the t5 or t56? and would i need to get custom mounts or LSx style mounts (since the Vortec line is now technically a truck LSx...)...
Thanks for the Info.

well yes i figured...but you di not answer my question... i could not find any info about putting the 4.2L Vortec in, what kind of mounts, or if it will bolt to a T5 or T56? spline count, you know that kind of stuff...
I am pretty sure there is enough space bcause the engine bay is really long, and i have a trailblazer with one in it, and it is not that much longer than a v8...but what about the mounts or the trans? and stuff...
Thanks

Why not go old school and do a 194 or 292? With a Clifford intake and 4 barrell carb (or 2 2barrells which I think looks cooler) you should get some good power and very good MPG.

well the reason i was thinkng that engine, is for the weight, and i would imagine it is a better head from the get go...do some good port work and maybe get like 300-320 horses... can this be achieved with a 292?

I've seen a couple old-school ones at at least that. I know where there is a dodge dart with a slant 6 that will put daylight under the tires. Anything is possible, but i don't know what it would take for the hood with the dimensions. Either way you go, good luck.
