ok, well i was told that this would be a good site to help with my swapping engines, so far it is, but a few questions, 1st is 1st tho, i hav a '88 camaro, i hav no idea wut it is tho, a problem yes, it looks lik an iroc, but has no iroc makings, the bagdes on the sides in front of the doors say camaro, it has the features of the barinetta(sp), but doesnt say it is one, it has random z28 makings eveyrwhere(lisnse plate, frame, randoms other parts) so i dont now for sure, please see the pictures. but heres wut i do now;

engine-v6 2.8L
trans-good question...it is auto w/overdrive, im told it should b a 700r4, but it looks a lil small
rear end-3.42 non posi(or should be but it acts lik posi, but the id say its not)

wut im don; iam taking out the v6 fi and auto n replacing it with a 350 superchagre carb with a 5spd, with torque arm bracet on it

my problems; the wiring! i hav no idea wut wires i should keep, reuse, buy new, why is there 5 wires to my starter, and some mechial ones to, altho i havent come that far yet, but ill keep updating.

i am somewhat new to this, altho i hav had some mechic classes (3yrs) so im not a total noob, please if you need any other info, pics let me now and ill try to get them up

 

if you will post up the vin i can tell you what kind of camaro it left the factory as and what engine it had

looks to be a 1988 sport coupe. only thing that doesn't make sense is the spoiler... But than again they may have come with a 3 piece spoiler... none the less SWEET CAMARO!

 

well thank you, how ever i now why its odd, its bc its the one of only 7000 made, thats right its the rs one baby!!! 2nd one in the series i might add, im sorry bout i just found out, i know this bc i checked in a different thred and yep, everything listed is wut i hav right down to the 3.42 rs rear end, so hopely this will help with my problem solving. also a few other questions would be lik can i use the alternator? power streeing pump? how would the fuel system work out?

 

Well since i dont see anyone sayin it its not a IROC, its a base Camaro with the body and badging and it also has the 2.8v6, but your plans for it sound great you might wanna invest in a new hood, if you have any question just ask we are pretty friendly bunch.
