Re: headers for lt1 swap in a thirdgen
Any SBC header will bolt on, but one with tubes 1-3/4 would be best, as the D-shaped exhaust ports are too big for a 1-5/8 tube to cover without causing a restriction. The 1-3/4" Hooker longtubes would work well I think.
Also, remember that LT1 engines have angle-plugs.

Hooker or Hedmen for longtubes.
I think Hedmen even makes a long tube header with d ports, can't remember if they are 1-5/8" or 1-3/4" though.
I have hooker shorties and I did have to sand/grind down the flange that bolts to the head to stop leaks. Other than that, its nice to work with. I can change all of the plugs from the top in 15 minutes or so. However, I recomend Hedmen if you go with shorties because they are d port and people have had almost no problems with them.

Re: headers for lt1 swap in a thirdgen
Hedman makes both LT and shorty headers for 3rd gen with d-ports and angle plugs and I remember someone saying that the LT's tuck up closer than most out there.

Hooker 2055's. They have 1 5/8 primaries so they will cover the D port...and they come with a y pipe.

1. Weld around the outside of the primaries at the flange (basically, re-weld the primary tubes to the flange from the outside).
2. Port match the flanges. You may have to weld around the port side of the flange to provide a gasket sealing surface (meaning you'll have to flat grind over all 4 ports).
A pain? Yes. But, what do you expect? We're into the "hobbyist" phase with these cars, and the aftermarket simply can't be expected to support the "odd" combinations we're coming up with to make our cars "ours".

Re: headers for lt1 swap in a thirdgen
Hedman makes d-port shorties for angle plug heads, and they also make a y-pipe for those headers, you can do a search in the LSx/LTx swap forum and find the part numbers, don't remember them off the top of my head.

Damn! That is such an awesome setup! I hope you sell a ton of those. If I was a chevy guy, I'd certainly buy them.
Nice work!
