It's a small block Chevy, just like any other small block Chevy. Nothing whatsoever in any shape form or fashion is altered by being associated with the "V" buzzword. The motor mounts are in the same place they have been in on the SBC since about 1958.

There is likewise, nothing whatsoever that is "special", "different", "better", or anything else (not even "worse"), about a 350 that has recently been in a 73 Vette (or even one that the factory themselves had put in a 73 Vette), as compared to one that has been in a 75 C-10 pickup or a 76 Caprice station wagon or any other chassis. I hope you didn't pay extra to get the "Vette" one, like if there was one out of a 74 Nova 2-barrel sitting right next to it that he would have sold cheaper but you got this one instead because it was "from a Vette", because it's just like any other. The cast iron IMMEDIATELY forgot that it had ever been wrapped in fiberglass, the instant it came out. The magic went away.

So yeah, it'll go right in; you'll only have 2 issues.

The earlier-model style of dipstick tube location, which is totally incomaptible with the exhaust manifolds for these cars. But since no one in his right mind would swap motors and leave those in, your headers will take care of that.

Your 86 should have the 1-pc rear main seal, but the old motor has the 2-pc; the flywheel or flex plate will have a different bolt pattern. You'll need to get the one for a 83-85 Camaro/Firebird V8.

Use the motor mounts from the original 305, the vette engine might come with "weird" ones.
Also use the 305 starter, make sure the 350 has the right bolt pattern to use a 305 starter (for use with the smaller flywheel/flexplate)

make sure the 350 has the right bolt pattern
Excellent point...

I might add, do that BEFORE you put the engine in the car.
