swapping in a 428?
ok, im just wondering how hard this is going to be, ive got a builtup pontiac 428, with low miles probably making around 450hp.
the car i have is an 86 base model, 5spd, v8.
I want to keep it a manual transmission car, now I know there are issues with the hyraulic clutch, but i just so happen to have an 82 trans am parts car with a 4spd manual with mechanical lincage.
so what will i need?
what would be a suitable transmission to use that wont cost way to much?
what about a rear end?
im also going to need headers
subframe connectors
and lastly motor mounts......
anyone any help would be great, ive got a tpi 350 sitting around, but dropping in the 428 is very tempting.

Look at the thread for the 400 install, all the blocks were the same dimensions from the 350-455 so any info in that thread will tell you what you need to know.

i know, ive just never swapped one into a 3rd gen, we originally swapped the 428 into a 76 bird that originally came with a 400, we just had to change the motor mounts.

Re: swapping in a 428?
You're going to have transmission problems. SBC and BBC use a different bellhousing bolt pattern than B-O-P, Caddy engines. Your SBC bellhousing won't bolt onto a Pontiac block without some sort of adapter.
I doubt the T5 tranny will last very long anyway.
