Finally decided on my first engine swap!
I've had a total of three engines in my ownership for a half a year now:
-95' LT1 (Interceptor Caprice) / Complete with harness and ECM - $200
-89' 350 (Suburban) / Block and heads - $75
-Unknown year LT1 (??' Mastercraft boat) Aluminum heads (Very clean believed to have very few hours on them) and block (supposedly cracked but have yet to find one) - Free
My plan was to use the aluminum heads on the 350 block and do that whole conversion... But I realized that would be pointless trouble. So I have decided to run the 95' block with the aluminum heads. Now since I have the whole wiring harness from the Caprice (that thing looks scary ) and the computer I believe I may have a good setup here. I also hear 95' is a pretty good year with the way LT1's are configured, not to mention Ill be using the 95' intake also. The 95' block isn't looking too healthy.. the cylinder walls are rusted hopefully just surface and can be bored out. The aluminum heads look almost new minus the valves having minor water corrosion on them.
Now here's my worries.
-The transmission. I've heard rumors that 91'-92' model camaro's came with a world class T5. I find it hard to believe because they still never put a 350 with a T5 in those years either so I don't know why that's going around my ears but I have my hopes up. Will the T5 hold up to the LT1 nether the less even bolt up? I'm very anxious to get all this done yet I have even had the block sent to a machine shop (lol) but I'm not sure If i can make the extra money to afford a T56...
-The Wiring. As I said before, that wiring harness looks scary lol. there's so many little wires and crap all over the place I don't know what to do when im looking at it. I'm trying to figure if I should keep this harness or just buy a new one. Either way I'm gonna have someone experienced wire this thing up. Keep in mind this was off a police interceptor.
-The A/C: I Live in North Carolina. It is very humid here as my fellow southerners know. I've read several threads on the A/C conversion but I've yet to come to a mind state of understanding... So my question is... Can you just use a A/C setup off a Corvette and just have some custom tubes fabbed up?

The T5 will fit behind the LT1. The reason they never put one behind a 350 had nothing to do with fitment.
How long it will last depends upon how much you abuse it. Clutch dumps and speed shifting will make it "not long".

Oh I know, I meant they never put the 350 in front of a T5 due to abuse limits but I was just using that as a reference to the reason I've heard that my T5 is a worldclass version...

There's a member that kept a non-WC T5 alive behind a 400. Even raced it on occasion, if memory serves.
WC makes it better, still doesn't make it capable of standing up to the torque of a 350 in the hands of the typical sports car consumer.

Re: Finally decided on my first engine swap!
This is still going to remain my daily driver. I'm hoping to get around 325 HP to the rear wheels once I get the motor built. I'm trying to build the most efficient/stout LT1 I can. 325 would be my maximum goal though, anything from 275-325 is where im looking. (RWHP) If the tranny were to take any wear it'd probably just be from gettin'on'it every once and a while which wouldn't be very often due to getting use to 140-150 RWHP (305) to that lol.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I believe the WC T5 was rated at something like 325 lb-ft. That means it was subjected to 325 lb-ft for 24 hours and survived. So, whatever the real number is, that's what you can expect it to take assuming you don't shock it.
