88' 6cyl to 454 swap underway
Just thought id jump back in the threads and let the fellow thirdgeners see what ive been up to. I keep forgetting to take more current pictures of the car. So ill get them up sometime. More pics to come. ENJOY!

Eagle crank and eagle h-beam rods. Clevite 77 bearings. moroso 7 qt. oilpan moroso high volume oilpump & pickup. Fel-pro gasket set. Speedpro forged hyperuretic pistons (9.7:1 .030 over) Went back with the stock heads used clevite 77 valves. comp springs, seals, and locks. And the cam specs
Magnum 280H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft
Lift: .520"
Duration: 280°
RPM Range: 2000-6000
Edelbrock airgap intake will be in this week. 800 or 850 demon on the way. Im gonna go with a TH-400 on the tranny. Im not sure about the mounts yet. And thats as far as ive gotten. Im only 19 so Im open to any suggestions anyone has. Thanks guys!

thats bout the same motor im building right now, olny diff is i got a slight more compresion, the XE274, what kinda of heads are you running, the look like either 781's or 049's but im am far from an expert, im running 781's with 2.25/1.88 valves in them, post up some hp numbers or track times asap! and im olny 18

thx for in the suggestin five7 if i dont like how it runs im going to swap the heads and cam. this is my first motor build (besides a couple 4 cylinders) and im just kinda toying around with it. & niceroc ill do that as soon as i get it operational. throw up some pics of your project!

That V6 in there looks like there's enough room for 2 of them under the hood. My 540 is stuffed in so tight I have very little room left but then the raised port heads and 2-1/4" primary tube headers don't help much.
You don't need a HV oil pump. A standard Melling M77 pump will do fine. Even I don't use a HV pump. At high rpms it can suck a pan dry putting all the oil in the top of the engine.

work, alot of it, and it isnt speedy at any pace, ive have had this engine since the begining of the summer and i am still short another 1200 bucks or so to get it running

yeah i do a 48 Hour week but at $11P/H it is kinda F**ked

yea, over summer i had 3 jobs, id work 45+ hours every week, it sucked then but now its startign to come together, and i guess im lucky, seeing i dont have to pay for a place to stay

looks like some good projects for ya'll...keep your heads up and it will all turn out good.i did the swap a few years back.i started with a 454 running low 13's and i made to a 598 last year and ran some 8.90's..may pro street the car this year,just not sure yet.

Just wanted to show you guys a few more pics of the motor. Havent done much to the car lately just loosing some under dash wiring and thats about it. Ill keep you guys posted and thanks for the drive to keep the project up! peace guys

Whatcha doing with that 2.8? Did it run? I'm in the process of gathering parts for something I've never done - 500+HP V6. I've done lots of small/big block swaps (JY stuff mostly) and even put a mouse in a Mustang once (355SBC in a Ford) that ran 11.8x motor and 10.3x on NOS and the owner was 19. Your project looks good, glad to see these people improving on these cars!.

First off sorry for the **** up 1320 im only human. And the v6 was trash sorry firebird. I got the valve covers off some guy for free...i bead blasted 'em and clear coated =). Thanks for the interest guys. Ill keep it posted
