496 BB questions.

Just running off a few ideas here on a 496 stroker. I was thinking about putting one in as my next motor and need a little help. I know plenty about small blocks but I might buy a 454 block in the future and if its one thing that I have learned build the the rest of the car before you add more power . I want to try a 496 with afr 305 heads and a mild hyd.roller cam. I want to build a motor with little or no lope to it. I was hoping for 10:1 compression and at least 500hp. I was thinking about cams with 112 lobe seperation to help with the idle. Here are some cams I was thinking about.

Crane
214 222 dur 553 576 lift
226 234 dur 587 610 lift

Gm performance parts
211 230 dur 510 540 lift

Would any of these cams not lope and would they make the 500+hp mark? Also I have a Pro-built 700R-4 that is rated to 575hp and 600ftlbs.Could the tranny take it?Last I have an 8.5 out of a GN that I was hoping if it was built up with all the good stuff could it handle it?
Could any of this be done? Thanks

The only problem I see is the rear end.

Grand Nationals can run those small ones for a while because the shock load is not as bad as the larger displacement engines. You won't get that lucky.

If you're gonna come close to 600 ft lbs being hammered from a dead stop to the axle then you'll need an upgrade.

You've done the trans, now the driveshaft and rear axle are next. Time to go up in a big way...

I run a Comp Cams 11-740-9 cam. I wouldn't say it's very streetable with .740 lift but the 112 LSA lets it idle nicely at 1200 rpm and it's a solid roller. You can build 500 hp with a 496 with a lot less cam.

Tranny strong enough is only a guess. A stock tranny could take a lot of abuse and a built up tranny could just as easily fail.

How are you intending on installing the G-body diff into an F-body? It's not a direct replacement. I'm not even sure if it's the same width. By the time you're done modifying, it could be cheaper to just buy a bolt in 9" or 12 bolt.

My 396 compared to what you're talking about is like a 305 expert talking about 406's. . .

But, from what I have heard, I'm guessing you'll need the bigger of those cams to reach the 500 HP mark. BBC's like lift, and that duration won't be very lopey if at all with those cubes (but it will sound "healthy).

I'd say 12-bolt or 9". I've got an 8.2" in the '57, but you're talking about a lot more grunt than I've got.

I want an 11 second car that does not attract to much attention. The cops are always pulling me over and asking me why I am street racing and I haven't street raced since I was 20 and I am 25 now and only take the car out on the weekends. I want to put quite exhaust and mufflers on it. I want a sleeper. I just don't want the attention anymore plus when I put the motor in I was still in high school and loved having the loudest and fastest car in school but you might laugh but now that I am getting so "old" I want a quiter car with more power. I hate the flows that I have on it now to loud.

I could also run a 383 with the new vortec carb blower. That wouldn't be loud.
