77' Seville 350 into 88 GTA
Hopeing you guys can help me.
I just got an 88' GTA but it doesnt have the engine or trans.
I was also able to get my hands on a 77' Cadillac Seville with a fuel injected 350.
I got the engine code off the sticker under the hood of the caddy but couldnt find any info on it.
The best I can guess from the info I found on a 77 seville is that its an LB2
How hard is it going to be to put the caddy engine and trans into the GTA and what will need to be done for the fuel injection to work correctly and the GTA's gauges to work?
Called the local caddy dealer and was told the engine should drop right in and only issue with the trans may be the bell housing may be a hair to big but moving the engine forward a bit would eliminate that problem.
Id really appreciate any info you all could provide and if there is any more info needed about the caddy just ask and I'll try my best to get it. in advance.

The 350 in that Cadillac is an Oldsmobile 350. Basically nothing will interchange between a Small Block Chevy and an Oldsmobile.

at this time Im not worried about doing any work to the engine so thats not a problem.
If it will fit in the GTA and work is my main concern. Its not going to be the engine that stays in it, I just want to get the GTA on the road and this engine and trans I got for next to nothing.
Like you said it is an Olds engine I found out. this is what I found.
90-degree, overhead valve V-8
Cast iron block and head
Displacement: 350 cu. in. (5.7 liters)
Bore & stroke: 4.057 x 3.385 in.
Compression ratio: 8.0:1
Brake horsepower: 180 at 4400 rpm
Torque: 275 lbs.-ft. at 2000 rpm
Five main bearings
Hydraulic valve lifters
Electronic fuel injection (speed-density, port-type)
Built by Oldsmobile
so for the present time will it drop in and work?

It depends on your definition of drop in and work. It can be made to fit, but it will not be easy.
A.)Different block dimensions
B.)Different engine mount locations
C.)Different accessory brackets and accessories
D.)Different intake, distributer, ECM
E.)Different transmission bellhousing pattern
F.)Different exhaust system and manifolds
If you are looking to get yours back on the road again, it would be much easier to find a chevy 305/350 and get it going again.

I did a post in the engine swap section here about putting Buick/Olds engines into f-cars. You can do it, and it's not too hard. It doesn't even require much money.
BUT IT IS LABOR INTENSIVE!!
I do it for fun but not to get by. If you're just getting by then you need to find a chevy small block. Any chevy small block will GET YOU BY.
I hope this helps, and YES, I really have done this before!
