I haven't been able to touch the car, engine, transmission, parts, anything for a week. It'll be Friday before I can, but at least I'll have the day off and should make some decent progress then. The knock sensor and module are supposed to arrive that day (finally), will have to tackle the exhaust and engine mounts (poly going in). Still undecided about ceramic or paint for the headers - ceramic sure would be nice, though.

Last week the wife's Bonneville oil pressure started a steady decline. I figured I'd better do the gage sensor first, but she'd better not drive it just in case. I put the sensor in today, same thing. So, I ended up taking the front end off of the engine today instead of working on the Camaro. I think it was some aluminum flakes in the bypass valve, looked like a poor deburring job on the front cover. Waited until over 195k miles to show up - weird. The timing chain was pretty stretched, so it's getting changed while the engine is open. Of course, the local stores didn't have one in stock, but should be here tomorrow. Hopefully that will take care of that.
While I was working on the Bonneville, my son removed the y-pipe & cat, and motor mounts from the frame. He really enjoyed the motor mounts part. He got the clamshells drilled out and the poly mounts are sitting on the crossmember waiting to be bolted back in - we just ran out of time this evening to get any farther. The knock sensor & module also arrived today.
I need to go into work this weekend to get some stuff done my boss wants first thing Monday morning, not sure how much more time we'll get on it the rest of the weekend.

Pic of the headers & y-pipe just before getting boxed up and shipped to Jet Hot.
Look even worse in the photo than they did in person.

The mounts are bolted back in. We cheated and put the bolts in through the bottom, nuts on top. Much easier that way.
The headers should arrive at Jet Hot tomorrow, but I'm out of town on another business trip rest of this week. Had to work again last Saturday, Bonneville oil pressure still reading low, fuel pump on the horse trailer towing van broke Saturday night (yes, broke), so still nothing done on the Camaro. Hope to get some things done over the long weekend - tack weld oil pump pickup and replace the plastic sleeve drive shaft with a steel one, finish assembling the engine and painting, maybe attach the tranny and go ahead and stab it. That means installing the headers after the engine's in, but that's better than waiting to do anything else until they're back, which will probably be a couple more weeks.

I can't have the headers on because they will be in Tempe, Arizona this weekend.

I was supposed to have last Friday off, ended up spending the day in airports and airplanes trying to be back home from New York. So, not as much progress occurred as was hoped.
I think it's time to retire this thread. Progress from here can be followed at https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=307981 .
