Neither on the trans, everything anyones said or done from what i've seen involving a buick turbo 6 and a manual transmission have turned out less than impressive.

i know about the buicks and problems with manual trans. they are about 2 tenths slower with a manual. im not really looking for this car to do straight line raceing- the nash was doing 11.4 with this motor- and im hopeing to dip into the 10s with the new combo. this is more or less a pleasure driver- i miss having a manual trans car. ive never seen anything done one a modified buick engine- the 2 manual trans swap cars ive seen were bone stock nationals.

2 tenths on an 11 sec setup or 2 tenths on a 14 sec setup ? Huge difference there, as far as the trans, what about a T56 ? Not sure but I believe that lakewood multi piece bellhousing is avail in the bop trans flange....

2 tenths on a stock setup- i beleive they ran 14.1 with the auto- then 14.3 with the manual trans. will the T56 holt up to the power without replaceing anything?

The stock 94-97 T56 was rated at 450 ft lbs by GM, a lot of people have run some VERY fast times on stock ones, get a good used one and / or have one rebuilt and you'll be set.

OTOH 2 tenths on a 14 sec car will probably only grow to a larger gap as the car gets faster, unless maybe that was not with a bov, or something else was flawed in the auto's favor ?

i talked to a couple guys over on the buick board and they said the 6 speed wont be a bad idea. the only things i really need to do is find TTA exhaust manifolds, use TTA motor mounts, and a TTA down pipe- im gonna start doing everything tomorrow ill keep you posted

Might want to check on the exhaust manifolds, PAS did some things to the heads on the TTA's that make them different than the ones on the GN's, but could just be porting or valve sizes instead of the angle of the head itself.

the heads im using are off of a 3.1 FWD car. the angle on the buick heads is too much and it would hit. im hopefully collecting the last few parts i need this month- if not im dropping the small block i have in my garage into it

TTA used different heads than the GN cars used.

They didn't modify the GN heads to work on the TTA.... they used different heads entirely.

3.1 heads don't work; you gotta use fwd 3800 style; heads from about 1990 or so work great

Original heads can work if you clearance the heater/ac box and fiberglass in the section that you have to remove.............
