ls1 or 450HP 383?
I have a complete ls1 donor car (been rolled but all the goods are ok). I can swap it all over to a 3rd gen or i could sell it and purchase a 383 Cubic Inch Dyno-Tested 450 HP Small Block Chevy Complete With Holley Systemax 11 Kit from Gustaf Engines. What would you suggest? I like fuel injection, but it wont be an everyday driver so im not to concered about fuel economy.

Car: Camaro Z281991 Engine: 5.7L/350 TPI Transmission: TH700R4 ··································· Car: Acura CL 1998
Engine: 3.0L/183
Transmission: 4 spd auto/OD
what car do you have now, yr, trans ?
LS1 is auto/6 spd ?
The LS1 is a good deal since you have a complete driveline ..
( and more ...)
with cam & head work, you could get 450 hp easy ..
Id go LS1

as much as the 450 sounds nice compared to the 325 id go with the ls1. Its a more shock value for car shows and in 10 years i think the ls1 would still be tuned and your carb on the other hand might be running rich. I think the ls1 with the 6 would be nice to have . Just before you put it in do some work to it like a cam or something and then an intake and maf and save up till you can do heads. but i think the ls1 is the way to go , plus in stock from they move pretty good. my cousins hubby has a 2000ss with a 6 speed and its great . Some 4.10s in the rear will really liven things up .

Yeah LS1's are just like a totally different type of power than a traditional carb'd engine, its power range is so much better. Just like they said, a cam and head work and your car will be faster than it would be with a 450hp 383 Stroker. And it's always cool to see LS1's in something else. Goodluck man!
