350 build list
Hey everyone, got some questions about my 350 build list. It's a '77 350 that's going to go in my '84 Trans Am. I need to be emissions legal, and I'm going to use all the computer controls.
What I Have
67 cc World S/R Torquers (complete)
all machining work done except balancing
Sealed Power rebuild kit (approx. 9.35:1 compression hypereutectics)
Oil Pan from 70's 400 sbc
Reused Parts
Rebuilt CC Q-Jet
305's vavle covers
Replacement 305 balancer
305 timing cover
What I Need
Summit Parts
TCI-399573 TCI 153 tooth flexplate $69.88
CTO-4116 Catco Catalytic Converter $105.69
EDL-3201 Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold $151.88
CRN-114142 Crane Powermax 2050 Camshaft $154.95
EDL-68743 Edelbrock Ti-Tech Headers $399.95
CLO-9-3100 Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain $68.88
CRN-11744-16 Crane Energizer Roller Rockers $195.95
CRN-11620-16 Crane Energizer Pushrods $69.88
DUI computer controlled Distributor
ARP fasteners
Replacement Fuel Pump
Any other recommendations or comments? Anything I'm missing?

Any particular reason for the flexplate? Unless your existing is FUBAR, reuse it. Or, go for a Pioneer replacement for about 1/2 the cost.
Do you mean EDL-3701? Any particular reason for going with the Edelbrock?
Any reason for the new distributor?
Looks like it'll be a good-running package.

yeah my bad, meant p/n3701. I'll look into the pioneer. I figured it would be a better idea to buy a new distributor, but if I can find a place to rebuild mine for cheap, i'll do that. Thanks

I doubt very much that the oil pan you have will clear the crossmember on a thirdgen - check to be sure.

Do you know something is wrong with your distributor, or just assume it needs rebuilding?
Typically, as long as the shaft hasn't been gummed up with petroleum oil varnish nothing much else can go wrong with them. The weaknesses are the module and coil, which don't require a new distributor to rectify.
The Performer probably isn't the best choice for a cam like the 2050. Consider the GMPP q-jet manifold or Weiand Action +.
The roller rockers might be a challenge fitting between stock valve cover baffles. Comp Magnums would fit w/o issue, and would be more than adequate to the task.

Do I need self aligning rockers?
