For those of you running large heads
I have run 2.02 in all the motors I have built and am currently looking at the Edelbrock Vic jr heads http://store.summitracing.com/partde...DL-77579&N=120 301663 . they have 2.08 intakes and that is alot bigger than what I have normally run on the street. Any of you out there with 2.05 and bigger please feel free to chime in and let me know how it worked out for ya.

2.08/1.60 Works great I guess?? Anytime you get more flow your going to make more power.

Motors are just air pumps so more air in more air out more power to be had. Why do you thinnk most people jump all over porting their heads...more flow/volume. It's just most heads that are sold to average street cars come with 2.02/1.60 to keep price low and use a standarized mold for the heads since the 2.08 are alot bigger than 2.02 so the chamber has to be reconfigured to accept the 2.08 and not shroud them.
As long as the runners are not too large, the bigger the valve the better to let more air in and more air out. Will installing a 170cc runner head on a mild 350 run srong with 2.02 valves-yes, will a head with 170 runners and 2.08 valves run harder, yes. Runner size is more a deciding factor than valve size.

I'm suprised nobody touched on valve shrouding here. I wouldn't run a 2.08 unless your putting them on a 400 or at least a .060 over 350. All that extra valve isn't gonna do you any good if the airflow on the outside of the vavle is slamming into the cylinder wall.

I apologize I guess I should have mentioned this is going to be for a 400. I am really trying to see if I want to run the Motown 220's that I already own, that have 2.055 intakes, or trying the aluminum Victor Jrs.

The edelbrock heads would be my last choice. Not saying they are a bad head, but, basically what you get out of the box is what you get with no room to grow ie. porting to gain more cfm. I've talked to a few different guys that do head work in this area and all agree there's not much you can do with the Edelbrocks. They do work good out of the box, I'm not saying that. They're just not a head that can grow with future mods that need more cfm.
If you have the 220 Motown's I'd save the head money and put it to something else worth while.

only reason I asked about the Victor Jr's is that the intake runner is a bit smaller, 215 i believe, so that would help velocity while the large valve area would help flow.
