what's it worth?
i have an 03' 383 SCD gm shortblock setup minus the crank that had cylinder wash in two cylinders. not bad but definately should be reworked. any idea what the setup would be worth used.
it was $3400+shipping new. figure half that because it's used. (900 miles thanks to tpis tunning) so maybe half of that or nothing? don't forget the crank is gone which was roughly 900 so subtract that as well.

So basically you have a block that needs to be bored, 8 pistons that wont fit once thats done, and a set of rods ? IMO reasonably you'd have to sell the pistons to someone who's got a block that will accept whatever bore they are, and probably the rods to the same person instead of having them seperated, and then the block to someone looking for a decent block to have bored over....

Yup, sounds to me like you have a core short block, minus a crank.
So find out what a short block core of whatever type that is (1-pc or 2-pc, finish-machined for rollers, etc.) is worth; and knock about half of that off.
My guess is, $75-100. Although, if they're PM rods and those aren't hurt, add another $100 or so, maybe, if you can find somebody that cares.
You certainly can't value a smoked short block core on the basis of what the complete engine assembly went for new. That attitude is an ironclad guarantee that it will sit in your garage for a long, long time.

Not a bad idea; it being a perfectly good core and all. Or, even make it into something better than wha you now have, and use it for your "next" motor.

The pistons are custom units for the 3.80" stroke, they should be worth a little to somebody that needs them. The crank is whats really worth something. IIRC is a Cola 3.80" 1pc 4340 forged crank, but since you don't have one....
All you really have is a standard bore block, clearanced for stroker crank, some PM rods with better bolts and clearanced, and set of pistons nobody can use without the 3.80" crank.
