New GM "Truck 350 Crate Engine" on Jegs
Jegs is offering a 'new' GM crate engine there calling a
'Truck 350 crate engine'
Its for 87-95 trucks, 2 bolt main, swirl port heads for bout $1,700.00
I don't see any reason this wouldn't be a direct swap for all 87-92 F-bodies don't ya think?
the GMPP 4 bolt main 350 with Vortec head for 87-94 is $2,300.00
but is 330 HP this new crate engine is more of a bone stock crate engine, but at a more affordable price of $1669.00
Which is cool becuase there was a big leap in price from pre- 86 gm goodwrench crate engines (1,200.00) and the post 87 crate engine.
Is this a new GM crate engine or the same one and jegs is just now offering it?
Jegs is offering it, here's a link.

I would spend the extra money and get the 330HO long block. It will make more power and be cheaper in the end. You are better off building up your LO3 than using that motor in its stock form.

swirl port heads Run, don't walk away from those heads, ok for a truck but they are crappy for a Camaro, go ahead and bite the bullet and get the 330 hp engine, it's much much better.

Look at it this way.....
A stock slug-slow truck TBI motor was "rated" at 210 HP, after being installed in a truck, with a pitiful air cleaner and restrictive exhaust. This one will do 200 HP; under what circumstances? headers, Holley carb, air stack, no water pump, etc. ... typical engine dyno trim?
A 305 can be "rated" at 190-200 HP as the L69, or 205-220 HP as the LB9. The L98 is "rated" at 230-240 HP. And all of those numbers are after installation in a chassis, with smog pump, water pump, etc. etc. etc.; not a perfect engine stand setup.
That motor is not a performance engine. And it certainly isn't a replacement for the L98. It's just phone-company van garbage; it's not "cool" at all, at any price. Virtually any V8 vehicle will be slower with that POS in it than whatever it came with.... with the possible exception of LG4 or L03 cars.

Yep your all right, but I was going to switch to aluminum heads, and a bigger cam later, the money saving of about 700.00 would just about be enough to buy a set of aluminum vortec heads and a good cam.
but, I think I'll bite the bullet, I can always switch to aluminum heads and diff cam later anyway.
