optispark confusion

I need to get my optispark unit for my lt1 now, but i dont know the exact year of the motor, but the cam pin is the short one, the # on the timing cover is # 12550032.. Im not sure if i need the 92-94 , or the 95-97. I was looking on a site with the pictures, but just not positive. appreciate the help, thanks.

Ummm im not totally sure, but are they visibily different? I know the 94+ optispark's are vented. Perhaps you can distinguish them by looks? *shrug*

There are two different designs of Optispark also known as distributors availible. One is the first design without the vent P/N 10457702. This design fits 92-94 Corvette and 93-94 Camaro and Firebird. The other is the second design for later model vehicles P/N 1104032 and has provisions for a vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold to the Optispark. This model fits 94-96 fullsize passenger cars and 95 and later Corvette, Camaro and Firebird.

Look and see of it has a vent on your original optispark at about the 4-5 o'clock position I believe.

the non-vented timing cover just has a small hole for a little stub shaft that splines into the center of the cam sprocket that drives the opti, the vented ones have a large hole where the rear of the opti sits against the timing sprocket and is driven by the cam dowel , if you have the large hole, and the cam dowel is flush with the cam gear, then you have the wrong cam or cover
