lt1 cam
Any of you guys have any experience or information on what cam would be best for a high performance lt1 engine-- im putting top quality parts on it, and want the most power. Thanks.

I'm running an LT4 Hotcam right now and let me tell you it is a great midrange cam. It's got pretty good torque with a lot of pull up high. But you wont go any faster than about mid 12's with it, and that will only be with ported heads, great driving, and a good tune. If you want more power up top, get the CC306. Another good choice that brings the power range back down some from what the CC306 has is the XE 230/236. It's specs are pretty close to the CC306 but it has better low end and doesnt have to be spun as high to get good power as what the 306 does. But if you want top end horsepower, get the 306 or the GM847. You really can't go wrong with any of them though.

Hey, ive been checking into these cams, and my definate choices are either the cc305 or cc306. I noticed that the 306 requires::
machining on the cylinder heads for the valve springs and seals.
and also a modified computer, I have my computer in the shop RIGHT now, and i need to let them know what cam im going to use, is this what they mean in the cam description as " modified computer" ?
Also would it be worth it to do the machining on the heads or just stick with the cc305?
Costly ? thanks.

You do not need to machine the heads with eaither of those heads. Plenty of guys run that cam on stock untouched heads. They really benifit from porting though since that is such a big cam. And yes that is what they mean by computer work. They will re-program it to run smoothly with that cam. To get the best set-up you do not want to skimp on either of those cams. You want the best springs and a good set of rockers. Porting should be done since the heads will practically be off. Dyno tuning should be a must and you should only use his re-program to get the car running. He can't accurately geuss the tune until you dyno tune it. You could put down 400 to the wheels with that cam and some good port work.
