Cam Selection Help for 95 LT1
Hey Guys, I need some cam selection assistance for my 95 IRON head Lt1 installed in the Ol' IROC. The car has a T56 and may or may not get 4.11's in the future from the current 3.23's. I am running 1-5/8" headers, flowmaster exhaust with a stock TBody and a ported 3.5" MAF. I'm looking for a very streetable 400HP/400ft-lbf power range.
My current plan is to install a GM LT4 HOT cam with the 1.6RR's and perform a mild port on the stock IRON heads. The springs will be replaced with ones that will fit into the smaller stock spring pockets in these heads.
Question is, are there any other cams that will perform similar/better than the GM LT4 HOT unit in this combo?
Anyone have any personal experience, ie dyno numbers to back it up?
Thanks!

I'm running the Hotcam with stock LT4 heads and I believe I'm close to 400 hp. It is a great cam, especially with ported heads, but is relatively mild.
With mild porting, you could check into the CC306, that should definitely push you over the 400 mark, atleast at the crank anyway. If you're looking for 400 at the wheels, get a better port job, get the 306, 1.6 rockers, 52 mm TB, and a good dyno tune and you'd be there.

Hate to say this but go to cz28.com and do a search in LT1 tech..
there are a ton of good recommendations out there.. but it all depends on two questions.. where do you want to make your power and how docile does it have to be?
Texas, next season we'll have to compare our times after I do the homeport heads and cam swap.. this is all too much fun, who'd of thought we would be talking about cars that originally had 175 horsepower getting into the 12s?

I know a guy w/ a 30th aniversary z28 w/ ported heads and LT4 hotcam, 3.73 rear gears, 3000 stall, bbk shorties and cold air intake. He was running 8.1 in the 1/8th w/ drag radials on the stock suspension. He just got longtubes, and electric water pump, but hasnt got them on yet. Honestly I would go a bit bigger than the hotcam. It is really pretty tame. I guess it depednds on exactly what you want out of the motor.
