from 2.5l 4 cylinder to 2.8l v-6
Hi all I ha an 82 Camaro with the 2.5l 4 and a 87 Camaro with the 2.8L v-6. The 87 had a tree fall on it during Isabel it broke out the t-tops and bent the winshild fram down into the passenger compartment. If it fezable to to rebuild the 2.8 and put it into the 82? will the computer have to be changes as well if so will the wiring harmesses match up or will the need to be changed as well? Help!

If you can find one, do the swap w/a 3.4 out of a 93~95 F-body. (May cost jsut as much as a 2.8 rebuild ) You have the best donor car for parts right there under the tree. Just swap everything needed from teh 2.8 car & put it where the 2.5 used to be. ECM, harness, everything. For the 2.8~3.4 swap stuff, check out the tech articl by KED85, the "*** Father" of theis swap. also I encourage you to peruse teh V6 boards as many have done the 2.8/3.1~3.4 swaps & can give you some good info/insight s on the "often overlooked base V6s"

wouldn't even recommend the swap, won't be worth all that much as far as performance goes, although you do have the 87 camaro in it's current setup. You might do better selling off the 87 camaro with the 2.8 for parts, and trying to piece together a carbbed SBC swap, would be worth more time and energy in the long run, or you could sell both cars to get a v8 powered ride. If you just want to do the 2.8 swap for some reason, i'd do it w/ a car also to avoid hassle with the computer, pull the 2.8 L replace the cam, inspect and have work done to the heads, possibly invest in a set of headers then transplant that into your ride. Also, you could do a roots blower on the 2.8L if it's carbed , which will give you a nice little advantage from the get go, this blower can't be done with the Fuel Injected engines.

he might have **** e-check issues w/either swap. See if you can find out the limits for both cars & see if feasible
