motor mount through bolts

Alright as some of you may know from my previous posts , my friend and I are swapping a 350 into his 305 RS. My question is this. Has anyone out there ever tried to get the motor mount through bolts out with just a ratchet?if so was it a Pain in the ***? anytime I have done an engine swap I used an impact but my air compressor just broke.I was going to just rent a compressor but I wanted to know if anyone has done this with out an air tool. Thanks

I always used a 1/2 inch breaker bar on the front of the engine and a wrench on the back side of the bolt wedged between the motor mount. Never used a compressor on mine. But i would think it would be easier w/ one! But it is possible and many people swap engines w/out using a compressor. Just alittle more work. hope that helps.

It's not a pain in the ***, I even did it with the motor sitting at an angle because I had taken off the crossmember under the transmission.. It's not a big deal at all, don't become too dependent on air tools, besides, turning wrenches all day is awesome exercise! I was able to take mine off with a ratchet and wrench, no problem. If you need to just put some pipes on the end of the wrenches for leverage..

I did think it would be that big of a deal, but one of my friends who is pretty experienced with engine swaps told me that he wouldnt use anything but an air tool. Maybe he just didnt play with it enough. Thanks for the help.
