92 RS 350 Swap, engine sits too high?

I have an 89 LO3 Firebird, only mod is Edlebrock 14x3 open-air element. I've "hot-rodded" an 84 Trans-Am, new engine, etc, Edlebrock Performer intake, etc, never had a problem.

I bought a 92 RS Camaro with a 305 originally (LO3). I used the car's existing motor brackets to install a crate 350 (.010/.020, old 67/77 driver's dip block, rebuilt).

I'm using an Edlebrock Performer (not RPM) intake with 600CFM Holley 1850 carb that fit my 84 Trans-Am. But with either a Holley or Edlebrock 14x3 drop-base air-cleaner the hood will not clear on this Camaro. The amount is obvious by looking at the car with the hood off. Both air-cleaners are fine on the 89 Bird.

What have I mis-matched here on the Camaro??? More importantly, how can I resolve this? Do "lower" motor mount brackets exist? I'd like to keep the 25th Anniversary hood intact, keep the 3 inch element, and I wanted a correct driveshaft angle.

Anyone know why this engine sits too high in a 92 RS??

I'd really like to drive this car without mangling the black striped hood. Slightly concerned with the driveshaft angle as well.

Thanks.

I had a similar problem on my 89 Rs. My mistake is that I used motor brackets off of a truck which the engine came out of.Well then I switched to and edelbrock performer air gap intake which at this point I had to remove the hood and drive it like that for awhile. With a edelbrock performer carb and a offset air cleaner 2" the hood fit again and it really confused me. Do you mean the mounts that attach to the engine or the ones that attach to the car. My driveshaft is the same way it has a little bit of an angle. IT sounds like the brackets that you are using on the engine side are off of a truck and if there are just get a set of engine side motor brackets off any chevy car that had a SBC in it.

Thanks for the reply. But I am using the motor brackets that came from the car. Although I did buy the car without the original 305 motor, all the 305 parts were original (heads, motor brackets & motor mounts; only the block was missing). Plus visually/measurements confirm these motor brackets to be the same size as on my wife's 89 305 Bird...

And with just the regular Performer manifold, there should be clearance, not air-cleaner over the fenders business...

I am sorry that I can't be anymore help. Your right here should be clearance if I can get clearance with truck brackets and a Air gap intake manifold you should to.

The air cleaner I use is 14x2 open element its just really offset and what I mean by offset is that it has a major drop base it has like an 1" drop to it.

Sorry I can't help.
