350 motor swap
I've got a 97 vortec motor. It's got the vortec heads and all. I was planning on swapping it to carbuerated and building it. I was wondering if I should use the vortec motor or try and find an older block. Is there any difference? also if I could get some suggestions on how to make around 400 horses. thanx a lot guys

I have basically the same engine,(only it's a 99), and about the biggest difference I have found is that there is NO provision for a mech. fuel pump.(no hole in the block for the fuel pump push rod, will have to go with an electric pump) Also, the rear main seal is a one-piece instead of two,(as in a pre-86 block), and this will determine which flywheel/flexplate you will have to use.
Other than that, I have gone with a different roller cam, valve springs/retainers, and screw-in studs.
Good luck with yours
