Heads

I was looking around for some info on 993 casting heads. I found a pair for cheap but I want to know how would they perform on a 327. I have a 68 327 bored .030. I read that at 75cc they wouldn't flow too well as the chamber would be too large, but if I milled the heads .060 I would have around 67cc, which would be better for compression. I'm not really sure what type of pistons I have, they are hypereutectic though. I need to change my heads as the 291 casting heads don't have bolt holes in the front and I need the bolt holes. Anybody have experience with 993 heads?

Dustin

Plenty of people have experience with them. They are garbage, just like the other 70s smog crap. Search for "Goodwrench 350" threads, you'll find lots of people's tales of woe and slowness.

You'll be taking off a pair of the finest hot-rod heads of the mid-60s, and putting on a pair of smooger junk from the era of 160-170 HP 350s. Talk about nutting a motor....

There's usually a reason why any given set of heads can be had for cheap. It's usually because there's something about them that causes nobody to want them. You get what you pay for.
