i'd say 5000 and expect another 1000. lot depends on where and who you get the parts from.

If you alreads have the block/rotating assembly, the shop around here that does our work will do all the necessary machining, add forged pistons, ARP rod/main bolts and assemble it for $2800. Thats using stock crank/rods though, so add prices for a Scat crank and some decent rods accordingly. Depending on where you live they shops may be a little different. Save some $$$ though and put it together yourself.

Is this starting from nothign at all or are you going to use the 350 that you have right now? Blocks can be found at junkyards or from people you know if you know anybody with resources. You could even buy an old junk engine, use the heads as well, depending if you want to go aluminium, then build off that which can be just as good as new. An old block can be found for under $200. I would go with a 4 bolt main & 1 piece rear main seal.

If you deceide to go with a block yard from the junkyard ensure that you get a roller 350 block, that way you can have a roller valve train setup. The older block would require a retro-fit cam, lifters, which would cost close to $800. Just a thought.

Where in your butt did you pull that number from? The cam is like $250 and lifters are like $150 (modern retrofit rollers don't require a retainer).

The cam I agree with the price, although it is on the conservative side but where do you find a set of hydraulic retrofit (older block style) roller lifters for $150.00?
I sure would like to get my hands on a set at that price!
Also to convert dont forget the cost of a cam button and special length pushrods.

Cronic3rd: Go back to 4th grade and learn to read a complete sentence.

Do some research and see how much retro-fit lifters cost for a I stated OLDER BLOCKS (pre 87), which are non-roller, and if you can find the retro-lifters $150.00, I will buy them for $250.00 from you which won't happen. Just about every place you look have them on back order. BTW: if you have a modern block lets say a 88and up 350, it does not require retro-lifters.

Here is Summit Retro-Lifters from their web site: try entering this part number and see what you get.

CCA-885-16 Lifters Hyd Roller Pro Magnum Small Chevy Retrofit For Older Blocks $402.99 B/O
or
CCA-853-16 Lifters Hyd Roller High Energy Small Chevy Retro-fit For Older Blocks $419.95 B/O

CCA-12-430-8 Camshaft ``Magnum`` 280HR Hydraulic Roller Retro-Fit SB Chevy $239.95 B/O
B/O - The part is temporarily out of stock, but you can order it now.

CCA-200 Chevrolet: 262-400, .795 in. steel roller thrust bearing Cam Button ``Roller`` For Small Block Chevrolet $9.95

CCA-740-16 1.437 to 1.500 in. double valve spring diameters, 10 degree locks, steel, valve spring retainers ... $59.99

That over $700.00 with the so called Pro-Magnum Retro-Lifters, and if you need to upgrade the springs you can add a few more $$$.

Cronic3rd,
So lets see your prices for the $150.00 SBC Retro-Fit Lifters. Don't pull something out of your BUTT-HOLE....

WTF is Modern Retro-Fit Roller Lifters?
Again BOY, modern blocks(88-up), does NOT require a Retro-Fit Lifters.

sry bout that I ment $250 (lunati lifters from jegs - less elsewhere)

all you need for a retrofit roller cam is lifters, cam, and shorter pushrods.

so $600 is still a lot less than $800.
