Scan Tool for Diagnostics Tool (Wiring)
Hello Everyone,
I will attempt to run wires to a 16pin DLC connector. In order to use a Scan Tool.
My manual indicates the following. Think it is that simple?
Apparently all the scan tool looks for is an Output/Field Service Enable signal and a Serial Data signal.
DLC Pin out as described in manual.
Pin 2 = Serial Data (Class 2)
Pin 4 = Ground
Pin 5 = Ground
Pin 6 = Output/Field Service Enable
Pin 9 = Serial Data
Pin 16 = 8+ volts
Can anyone comment on the "Class 2" note. I only see one Serial data output from my computer. I intend to run this wire to Pin 9 of a DLC connector. Likewise the service enable wire to Pin 6 and so forth.
Any further insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Gus

This **** is still over my head, hopefully not for long, but here are some links to check out if you haven't already that relate:

These both go into detail on making the cable you describe.
Good Luck!
