Im new here.....I got a 350 today!! Now what do I do with it?

Yeah, hi. Im new here. You may know me as Rage over at Camaroz28.com. But anyways, I have a 305 TPI in my car, and I just got a 350 today. I have all kinds of miscellanous crap for it but let's skp that....It came with a bullet steel crank...anyone know anything about that? Anyway's I got the motor, now I want to know what to do with it. Money is not the issue, I have foever to build this motor, so I will do it right. I need to know what kind of stuff you would put on it? Just the big stuff, like heads, cam, headers, pistons..Would you make it a 383???or a 396???? Im just wondering. I want to use the car for daily driving, but I want it to be fast. Im aiming for low 12's. Just help me out. Thanx.

Seriously..... tell us what you think the perfect engine is. Is it 1/4 time only, or street/strip, or sleeper, N/A, N.O.S., S/C, Turbo? We need to know all the details of what you want then we can better answer your questions.

Study the 305 and the 350 and look for any differences you may be able to take care of with the 350 is out of the car.. like the dipstick. If you have an older '70s 350, then your dipstick is on the driver's side, not the passenger side like the 305. You may also have to drill a new hole in the 350 block for the 305 starter to mount properly (the 350 starter will not fit if its a 5 speed car.. dunno about auto though)

A 396? What have those guys at camaroz28 been teaching you

Do you want to keep the tpi? Does it have to be smogged?

I've never heard of a bullet steel crank, do you mean a billet steel crank? If thats what it has it means it's not casted or forged but it was machined out of a solid piece of steel (very strong, very expensive).

well if your going to go with a 383 the crank is going to do you no good but you could sell it and get some money toward a crank for the 350

The 1-piece cranks are a absurd amount of money.

Cast 350 crank from the dealer $700-$800
Forged 350 crank from summit $539
Forged 383 crank something like $350

The better it is, the cheaper. WTF?
