BBC swap fit issues and etc..
BBC with Hooker 2226(goal of 450-500HP)
1)Would the wiper motor fit?
2)Is there such thing as low valve covers for it
3)Car currently have a beefed up 700R4,3" cat back and Spohn SFC's.Would moving up to 4" be enough and do I need to cut anything/dent anything up on the body for the y-pipe?
4)How high of a hood scoop do I need for Edelbrock Performer RPM high rise dual plane,Holley 750 vac secondary,
1 inch spacer/nitrous plate,4" high air filter(or higher)or should I just put one of those B&M scoops..lol
5)Would my power steering pump/brackets bolt on?
6)I would use the stock TPI fuel pump temporarily and use a regulator..opinions?
7)Header to steering shaft clearance?
more later
Daz
Pics would really help a lot especially on the exhaust mods

1. Probably not.
2. Stock
3. Wouldn't hurt... I'd avoid sodomizung the body any more than necessary, you're going to need it to remain as solid as possible
4. High
5. Absolutely not. You'd have to get big block ones. The holes are all different.
6. Lame, might get you by for a while, people don't seem to get very good results or reliability out of that setup.
7. Visit the web sites of some of the people who have done it. I'd suspect it isn't a problem, because of the way headers go on a big block; the head exhaust flange is angled downward more than a SB, so the headers are much closer to the block up near the head where the steering column runs through.

3. 3" exhaust is fine for a BBC but your current exhaust isn't going to bolt right up to the BBC.
5. The pump you can use but you need BBC brackets for everything.
7. Hooker Supercomp swap headers have a dimple in one tube to clear the steering shaft. At least it's not as back as a V8/S10 swap. The steering shaft goes through the header tubes.
1. Stock valve covers should clear the wiper motor but it limits you to anything good under them like big roller rockers however some may fit with no problems.
2. Again with stock style low valve covers it should fit. An AC compressor bracket for a BBC will be needed though since none of the SBC brackets will work on a BBC.

this is great..its really helping me with narrowing down the expenses..I didnt think the whole stock would work but what Im thinking is that maybe I can make a y-pipe so it meets the intermediate pipe somewhere..About the dimple on the tube,is it possible to move the whole column/shaft away from header?(like installing SLP's).. ....5445 and the head casting said 6310(?)..The block casting confirmed that its a 78-90 block(Mortec) but I cant find info on the heads..Im sure it cant be the rectangular ports but Im hoping its not the peanut version..Im guessing that it is though..If it is,would it support 450-500HP?Again thank you

That's not a good head casting number. There's a good possibility that they're peanut port. No performance value at all. I have a couple of those boat anchors sitting in my shed. Find a pair of 781 or 049 castings. They're the best factory oval port heads. You don't want rectangular port.
Get the suffix code off the block. It's stamped on a pad in front of the passenger side head and on a pad at the top front center of the block in front of the china wall.
Using Hooker Supercomp headers requires a mini starter. A factory starter won't fit. Factory cast iron manifolds would connect to your exhaust system better but will choke the engine.
You can't move the steering column unless you cut a new hole in the firewall. There's no need to move it anyway.
