motor rebuild class?
My minor in college is auto service repair. In my engines class we need a project. I have an 84 trans am with a 305. What would be the price of parts to rebuild the motor from the bottom up. I know some machineing needs to be done so dont include that. Also if you could include a parts list. I know the main things but sure I would miss something small. Thanks a lot for the help.

There's a kit from Powerhouse that is really cheap. It's designed for a basic overhaul, not performance. It comes with cast pistons, rings, freeze plugs, bearings, etc., and a stock profile cam.
IIRC, the 350 kit is $158 and the 305 kit is $178. That's pretty gosh darn cheap if ya ask me.

One more thing. IIRC, there's a ~$50 core deposit on the cam. And you can upgrade the cam to a higher profile if you like, albeit more $$. That way if you're rebuilding the 305 in your car, you can step up the performance a little at the same time.
