need ideas for HT383 crate motor w/TPI...
OK, I just got an HT383 crate motor rotating assembly (practically brand new)for my 6-speed '86 IROC for next to nothing from a friend who works for the dealer...and I have a perfect 350 roller block for it all to go into. I also have a set of mildly ported Vortec heads, but I also have a ported set of ZZ4 L98 heads and an LT1 intake. I also have an LT4 hot cam and I'm considering a CC305 or CC306 cam if I use the LT1 intake (with future plans to replace the heads with AFR's later). So basically I can use the Vortec heads, buy the Vortec base and use my SLP runners and 24# SVO's with the LT4 hot cam, or use a CC305/6 cam with ported aluminum L98's and my LT1 intake. I'm stumped, I have no idea which I want more and I want both. Mainly because I dunno how much the L98's flow compared to the vortec's. The L98 heads have high-lift springs and 7/16 studs and guideplates. I'd love to have 500 ft.lbs but want that cam lope and high-end pull too. Any recomendations? I don't plan on using any power adders with this motor, as it has hyperutectic pistons and I'm on a budget. Rear gears are 3.73 w/a torsen HD...315-35ZR17's out back. (did I say budget? ) Trans is a new '95 unit with a Ram performance clutch (for the time being) and will be installed as soon as I get my credit card reissued to pay for my crossmember .
(I can also go real freaky and replace the rotating assembly in my 4.00" '93 LT1 motor and drop that in )
This is a street/strip/track vehicle. Mileage is somewhat a concern...don't mind giving up a couple mpg's for a nicer cam (only a couple). Somebody help so I can get this motor in! I have 6 motors in my garage and can't make up my mind!

by the way, the specs of the cams...
LT4 Hot hydraulic roller
218/228
.525"/.525"(1.6 rocker)
112 LSA
CC306 hydraulic roller
230/244
.510"/.540"
112 LSA
CC XE282HR hydraulic roller
(same cam chevy high performance dyno tested the HT383 at making 455HP(5600) and 493 ft./lbs (4200) w/vortec heads)
230/236
.510"/.520"
110 LSA
I don't have the exact specs on the CC305 right now...
