carb to TBI

heres the deal. I want to know what is involved in a carb-to-tbi swap. honestly, it's for a 86 full size blazer 350 4x4. But i figure thirdgenners with carbed motors might be thinking the same(i'm lucky, TPI). I'm thinking, the throttle body itself, and a new fuel tank to accept an electric fuel pump. What else would i need to score from a junkyard donor. especially when it comes to computer stuff.??????? anyone with help, pleaaaasssse i want the throttle response of EFI!

Your best bet may be to get a Painless conversion setup. TPI (I assume that's what you're wanting, but you said TBI once) has sensors on the firewall, and a vehicle speed sensor. Not sure if an '86 Blazer has VSS, but it's one hassle you may not want.

If you do go JY, try to get a complete harness with all of the sensors still attached. Doing all of the sensors, relays, AC/cruise/wiper/etc. controls could get interesting.

well, tpi had crossed my mind, but i was thinking just a good ol' TBI setup. (when i said tpi i meant i have tpi on my firebird, sry if i boggled the point i was getting at.) But no, just good ol' throttle body injection is fine, seeing the junkyard doesn't have much in the line of tpi or even f bodies. TBI would be simpler i would think, allthough the thought of a tuned port blazer is intriguing. Is throttle body swapping more simple? and what will i need. Also, i really don't know if it has a vehicle speed sensor(VSS) but, i do know that my 86 regal has one, same year as the truck, so my thought is that the truck probably has one. It's really all a mystery to me because i didn't even get the truck yet (but i'm trading the regal for it) i will get it, i'm 99.5% sure on that. But yeah, i know i'll need to find a new gas tank from an efi Blazer, and i want to snag the injection system from it too. Just need to know the parts , also what controls the electronic fuel pump anyway? how big of a mess am i into? ok, sorry about the novel here, you know how it gets when you post while tired. thanks for any info.
