91 TPI 305 to TPI 383

Im currently running a slightly upped TPI 305 and Im collecting a list of mods that will be needed to accomodate the 383 while keeping TPI (love it's trq!). I know most of the basics will be a definit go for the swap....I'm planning on keeping the 383 street drivable and do not want to spend alot more money by swaping out parts that can still be used. Here is a list of some questions that I have. If anyone (Im sure some ppl are out there!) have done this conversion before please let me know how it went and what it took! Here are some questions...

1. Can the stock computer and wiring be used?
2. Fuel injectors need to be increased from 19lbs to 22?
3. Stock brackets for AC etc??
4. I will be running some upgrades to the TPI like shorter Runners and a larger manifold / bigger TB.

I can assume that if the 383 comes with a 4 bolt main 350 block of the same age I can use most of the same stock water pump and other bolt ons?

I doubt u can use the same comp. a 383 is a big difference compared to 305. it needs a whole lot of fuel. maybe a new chip might work with the stock comp.

The stock computer can be used but you would have to have it reprogrammed.

Fuel injectors would need to be changed to 22 or 24lbs

Stock brackets can be used , why not ? the engine is the same externally.

For the TPI you'll need some work, get bigger runners, bigger trottle body, port the intake, the plenum. Altough I think TPI wouldn't be that good for this setup. I doubt you'll be making more then 280 hp out of it. Get yourself a LT1 intake or carb the beast ... TPI were made for 305 engines, a mild 350 chokes on it...

Good luck with your swap.

Sounds like an pretty reasonable swap....a new chip for CPU....anyone have any exsperice with the TPI setup for the 383?? In my case Im looking forward to adding larger runners, big mouth manifold...and TB....I don't see how the TPI could "choke" out the 383 all that much...350's run this setup stock...some 383's I have seen have been retro fitted with mods..... if I'm using large flow units....anyone have any results for this...for the swap!!???
